Magnetic Photo Albums have an acidic adhesive which causes damage to the photos. Above is a video of me removing photos from a magnetic photo album. The longer the photos have been in the album the more difficult they are to remove. In the video, I try the floss method (stay away from waxed and flavored floss) using a length of floss and shimmying it under the photo. In the above case, the floss method was not successful. I switched to using an art spatula, again gently easing it under the photo to remove it from the adhesive. Sometimes the adhesive stays on the back of the photo and will need to be removed.
You will notice that I am wearing gloves, the reason is that the oils from your fingers can also damage the photos and leave fingerprints which can sometimes show up when you scan the photos to make them digital.
If your photos are in magnetic photo albums, please remove them to prevent further damage. If they have adhesive stuck to the back, be careful not to stick them to another photo.
It seems like everyone had these magnetic photo albums. It is very apparent that they have damaged the coloring of the photos.
